Venezia

It's singular appearance with more than 150 canals and 400 bridges and wealth of art treasures make it unique. The old historical center of the city is situated four kilometers from the mainland, on 118 islands of the Venetian Lagoon.

Early historical information on Venice dates back to the fifth and sixth centuries when, to escape the Barbarian invasions, refugees from the Venetian countryside took shelter in the Lagoon. Venice was officially declared a city in the year 1229.

Countless attractions make Venice one of the most world famous tourist cities. Places such as the Piazza San Marco, the traditional postcard scene of Venice with its famous Cafes and surrounded by beautiful Renaissance buildings. The San Marco Basilica of Byzantine inspiration, (11th-15th century) overlooking the whole square the Palazzo Ducale (14th-15th century), is a typical example of Ghotic-Venetian architecture. These are just a few of the many important monuments that Venice houses.

Venice's special events such as the theatre season at the La Fenice and Goldoni Theatres, the Venice Carnival, the Historical Regata (September), the Regatta of the Four Marine Republics (every four years) help this unique city celebrate its historical legacy.

The Venezia Collection was officially presented by the Mayor of Venice during the Historical Regata on September 98'.

Venezia was officially declared a city in the year 1229. The Venezia collection limited to 1229 pieces is a new collection created by Delta, the artisans of writing instruments, to celebrate one of the most renowned cities in Italy and in the world.

A collection of writing instruments in celluloid. The celluloid is obtained by processing cellulose with nitric acid, camphor and alcohol, and it needs to mature for a minimum period of two years before it can be machined. Celluloid has been used in the manufacture of writing instruments since the beginning of this century. It is the most prestigious and desired of the materials used due to its capacity to absorb forces resulting from impact thus the great resistance to breakage if the writing instrument is dropped.

Both a vintage detachable clip and a desk pen support are offered (fountain pens only). This provides the possibility of using the clip when carrying the pen in the pocket or having the pen without the clip when the pen is used in a desk. The Venezia pen features also the rare and much appreciated lateral lever filling system, a system introduced in the early 1900's and very much treasured by pen collectors. This system has been perfected by Delta and is increasingly requested by collectors and pen connoisseurs.
