The celluloid is obtained by processing cellulose with nitric acid, camphor and alcohol, and it needs to mature for a minimum period of two years before it can be machined. Celluloid has been used in the manufacture of writing instruments since the beginning of this century. It is the most prestigious and desired of the materials used due to its capacity to absorb forces resulting from impact thus the great resistance to breakage if the writing instrument is dropped.
Both a vintage detachable clip and a desk pen support are offered (fountain pens only).
