In 1999, Dunhill announced two new limited edition namiki pens. Each pen is hand-crafted by the the artists and presented in lacquered ash wood cases, each with a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Richard Dunhill.
The "Senmen" pen was produced in a quantity of 25 pieces only. It incorporates a gilded brass body and cap that have
been dried, re-coated with lacquer and charcoal burnished in the togidashie technique. Senmen
is Japanese for "fan", and the pen depcits a number of these, finished in lustrous mother-of-pearl and gold. The fans are embellisehd with landscapes and flowers symbolizing the four seasons, with typical foliage for summer, cherry and apricot blossoms for spring, the colorful chrysanthemum and red leaves in a stream for autumn, and snow covered Mt. Fuji for winter.
