The Harrods 150th Anniversary fountain pen and rollerball are the perfect blend of the finest materials and the most sofisticated manufacturing techniques in the pen industry.
Each pen's barrel is the result of eight deep-drawing stages of a small silver (or gold) disk, being heated and polished through all the different stages to achieve the brilliance Montegrappa is famous for.
The striking decoration on the barrel is engraved in Low Relief, the exclusive technique unique to Montegrappa, that has been previously used on some of the most prestigious limited and annual editions.
The body of the pen is turned from rods of special acrylic resin whose composition was especially created for the Harrods pen. The nib is fashioned in 18k gold with an iridium point welded by hand, ground, polished, and partly platinum before being assembled to a hand turned ebonite feeder.
The nib unit is exposed to hours of testing before being actually assembled to the pen. Similarly the pen's piston mechanism, the only one having a brass construction, is fed with ink and kept in an upright position for 7 days to verify leakage of ink.
The cap's band is laser engraved with the Harrods Knightsbridge logo and the anniversary years 1849-1999
