"Tertio Millennio Adveniente"

Rome, a city of great mystic and historical past. Within this great city, there is the Vatican, the holy grounds where the Pope resides and where tranquility is an experience that fills the mind, body and soul.

In celebration of the two thousand birth years of Jesus Christ, the Jubilee of Christianity will take place in the year 2000. The three years preceding this celebration are dedicated respectively to Jesus Christ (1997), the Holy Spirit (1998(, and God, the Father (1999) as decreed by Pope john Paul II in his Apostolic Letter "Tertio Millennio Adveniente".

For this simple reason, attune with tye year dedicated to the Holy Spirit, MONTEGAPPA have chosen this particular subject.

MONTEGRAPPA'S 1998 Limited Edition was conceived with inspiration drawn from the stained-glass window known as "Le Grazie" (Translates - The Graces), located atop the Bernini's "Cathedra", a huge work of art, designed to preserve St. Peter's high chair. The lucid "Le Grazie" window illustrates a dove betwixt the sun's rays, a prevalent manifestation of the Holy Spirit. This magnum opus is placed inside St. Peter's enameling process. The angles encircling the "Holy Spirit" are left barren to exhibit the intrinsic details of this masterpiece.

Within the enameling procedure, the tedious employment of each colour individually and repeatedly to the difference autonomous areas between the heating process, narrate the dedication needed. Upon accomplishment of this delicate task, the smoothing and polishing process prior to the final coating of enamel to be heat treated, completes the mammoth task, producing an exceptional piece of art.

The spring-loaded clip of the pen, is die-cast and hand enhanced in either silver or 18K gold, a signature of MONTEGRAPPA. Modelled as a key, depicting the keys to paradise. The keys to paradise are the symbols of the Vatican; the Vatican being the seat of the Pope, the direct descendant of St. Peter who is the keeper of the paradise keys.

With a reliable piston feeding mechanism, MONTEGRAPPA chose to fit the "Tertio Millennio Adveniente" masterpiece with the biggest nib ever. A two-tone 19K gold nib chiseled with a miniature "Le Grazie" design. Together with an ebonite feeder, it provides flawless, unsurpassed pleasure of writing.

The parts other than precious metals on the pen, namely the cap, section and the blind cap are made of pearlized celluloid. Celluloid is a choice material taking one year to process and two months to cure. The end result produces vivid colours and is both light weight and durable.

All trims are either in silver or 10K gold. The trim on the top of the cap is fitted with a cornelian for the silver version and a Coral for the 18K gold version, which is red, the colour of the Pope.

Deserving of such a sovereign masterpiece, the pen is housed in a roman pillar finished with a marble effect and a lacquered base. The inside is laid with red velvet and a miniature replica of the "La Grazie" forms the glass lid of this presentation box.

Build with such refinement and amterials of only the finest, MONTEGRAPPA has once again produced another, worthy nost only as a collectable, and also an addition to the family heirloom.

Produced only in quantities of:
1,912 pieces of silver fountain pens and 100 pieces of 19K gold fountain pens individually numbered on the bottom of the blind cap.
