Omas's only continuous production modelm the
"Faccettata", or the faceted pen, the masterpiece of
Omas's Founder, is still now the very best example of Italian
fountain pen creativity: from Omas Extra to Extra Lucens from
the 1930's, with a more severe Post War look, to the precious
"The Paragon", now the symbol of Omas.
Recalling these authentic milestones,
I wanted to intorduce a new development with which i have emphasised
the emblematic elements of Omas. At the same time, I have made
some little changes so that the ballpoint pen and a larger prpelling
pencil than in the previous line.
The O in Omas stands
out and dominates the top of the caps of the various writing instruments,
a significant embellishment and an immediate reminder of the brand.
The clip is a re-interpretation of those
initially used by my grandfather. The curvature indicates the
speed that rules our time: from transport to communications, from
technological evolution to the rapidity with which everything
changes around us.
With this symbloism, however, I have
also tried to build a bridge that joins past and future, the second
and the third millennium.
Just one brand takes the place of all
three that characterised this series for many years. A precious
shiny-opque contrast emphasises the name Omas and the Greek key
design and helps achieve the right aesthetic balance with the
part above the detail.
The end part of the barrel on the Paragon
is very attractive and entirely new. It is 925% silver, which
creates a solid piece with the nib holder, for the first time
with a dodecagonal insert, protected from scratches by an ingenious
system.
The material used is vegetable resin;
the filling system is an innovation.
The nib is still 18kt gold
and is nicely finished off by an intricate new decoration.
