Product Details:
Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus) was a navigator, colonizer and explorer. He convinced the Spanish royal couple to support him on his idea to find the sea route to India. On 3rd of August 1492, Colón set sail to change the Face of Earth, although in a different way than he had imagined.
On October 12 in 1942 he finally reached land - the Bahamas and mistakenly believed it was India. But what he discovered was America!! The so far unknown and fascinating world beyond the Atlantic. The anniversary of Columbus landing in the Americas in 1492 is celebrated (Columbus Day) throughout America and in Spain on October 12.
In homage to this very special occasion and Cristóbal Colón itself this 750 Solid Gold Limited Edition is manufactured using a method which is an old Spanish heritage: the 'Toledo technique.'
The design was inspired from the time period of the 1920's with its pattern referring to the Middle Ages.
The surface - the pattern, the effects in the solid gold - is manufactured relating to the old 'Toledo technique.' Referring to his trip the cap features two images: Colón's boat (Santa Maria) and a compass rose 18K gold nib displays the skillfully engraved face of Colón, the visionary voyager. The limitation concept is based on the year Colón discovered America = 14 + 92 whereby the high jewellery version (14 units) is in White Gold, set with diamonds.
The technique used to finish this pen design is completely new as the process and the Toledo work has been done the first time in Solid gold Limitation 92 units (referring to the year when Colón discovered America, 1492) completed by 14 units Atelier Prive Distribution: Spanish Boutiques.
