In China the dragon has always been the symbol of the Chinese imperial family. The year 2000 was ruled by the element "Metal", the Chinese Character which also stands for gold, making the year 2000 the "Year of the golden Dragon" - a powerful combination that occurs only every 60 years.

With The "Year of the Golden Dragon - Limited Edition 888" Montblanc pays a unique tribute to Chinese culture. In co-operation with Staatliche Porzellan Manufaktur Meissen, a fountain pen made of porcelain has been created. The result is a fountain pen, of which only 888 pieces will be available world-wide.

Limited Edition 888 is also based on this Far-Eastern symbol for happiness and success: in this edition, a hand-painted dragon decorates the cap of the fountain pen, the whole of which is made of the finest Meissen porcelain in the traditional colours of the Chinese dynasties. A feature common to both editions is the motif on the 18-karat gold nib – the engraving of the Chinese characters for the Year of the Dragon.
