Limited Edition Solid Gold Skeleton 43
When George Washington commissioned the construction of a residence for the future American president in 1790, plans were drawn up for a building that would outshine all others. Over 200 years later, the finished building remains a document landmark.
Located on the banks of the Potomac River in Washington DC, the white house is not only the president’s official place of residence but it is also an architectural shine to American freedom and democracy.
The address known today as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was chosen by President George Washington and city planner Pierre L’Enfant as the “Presidents House” (one of its names until 1901) was designed by Irish-American architect James Hoban. Its simple classical style, inspired the building of Italian renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, triumphed over nine rival proposals. Presidents, fashion world orders – The White House has seen them all come and go, but has retained its unmistakable appearance throughout.
Montblanc wishes to pay tribute to this historic building with a Limited Edition as unique and timeless as the White House itself. Displaying exquisite attention to detail, this fountain pen successfully captures the striking architecture of the White House, with its elegant 750 white-gold trim representing the columns that support the American ideals. The shimmering barrel, made of light blue transparent precious resin draws its inspiration from the blue room, the main reception room in the White House, while the solid 750 white-gold cap ring with square-cut diamonds is a fascinating miniature reproduction of the south balcony. Beneath it, the head of an eagle with sapphire eyes links the ring to the clip, the tip of which is also set with a sapphire. The rhodium plated 18 carat gold nib is symbol of the United States of America. In honor of the nation’s presidents, the fountain pens of The White House limited Edition Solid Gold Skeleton are restricted to just 43 in number, thereby guaranteeing their owners maximum exclusivity.
