The Visconti Pontevecchio is a much a symbol of Florence as Michelangelo's David or the dome of the Duomo. The Pontevecchio bridge was built in 1345 and has undergone only minor change in 650 years.
- In the 1500's the rows of small houses on each side of the bridge became home to over 40 goldsmiths
- Practicing traditional Florentine skills in which many of the finest renaissance artisans had been trained
- To this day, the Crafts of the world renown artisans are still available on the Ponte Vecchio
