For the year 2002, Stipula is presenting a new addition to one of its most classical collections, Etruria, which with its gentle, sinuous forms recalls the softly rolling slopes of the Tuscan hill-country landscape. The type of material used is unique: cellulose acetate in an amber hue, the historical color of the collection and that which most immediately brings to mind the colors of the land of Tuscany. The extraordinary lushness of the Etruscan countryside also inspires the pen's finishing touches, which are characterized by a leaf motif, symbol of the continuance of life and the alternation of the seasons. But the decoration of the pen cap and clip of the new Etruria incorporates significant novelties.
Near the lip, between two Sterling silver rings, the pen cap is adorned with a vermeil strip of feuille aigue decoration in geometric, highly stylized forms in accordance with the canons of the Florentine jewelers' style. The feuille aigue decorative motif also enlivens and embellishes the silver clip, built up on two levels in a play of shiny and matte finishes.
In line with the "new classics" approach introduced by Stipula in 2000, the new Etruria fountain pen is available in two versions: with an original convertible piston filler system (the piston can be removed to permit inserting an ink cartridge) and with a "pin" mechanism, operated from the front of the barrel, that fully retracts the piston filler into the body of the pen. The two-tone 18k gold rhodium-plated nib of the Etruria fountain pen is available with the classic Stipula sizes: Extra fine (EF), Fine(F), Medium (M), Broad (B), Oblique Broad (OB), Very Broad Oblique (OBB), Italic 0.9, Italic 1.1, Italic 1.3, and Special 52°.
Etruria is now also available as a cap roller, with a special metal point with vertical chasing to exalt its luster and create a play of silver and gold tones that echoes the colors of the nib of the fountain pen version. The Etruria roller features Stipula's exclusive "regoball" tension adjustment mechanism. Just a turn of the knob atop the pen allows the user to adjust the firmness of the writing point. Choose soft for letter writing or firm for writing through carbons, or anywhere in between.
