"Shunga Erotic Art Pen"

Following the first edition of our Casanova pen, we promised to issue one with a more erotic design as many collectors have claimed that the artwork as "too soft". Although Visconti would never go to such extremes as to produce a pen with a pornographic design, we decided to venture further with this theme, as long as an appropriate subject could be found, by researching the history of eroticism in more detail. Our research led us to the Shunga panels, which can be found on display in many museums throughout the world and which illustrate pure Japanese eroticism.

These panels, painted by Japanese artists between the 17th and 20th centuries, were originally conceived as a teaching tool in the art of lovemaking. We took one of these panels and asked our artists to hand paint it on to your pen. Due to the extremely erotic subject matter, it was decided not to paint on to the body of the pen so as to maintain a more discreet appearance.

The idea was to secrete the illustration under a vermeil body, in the same way as many pocket-watches during the last century were discretely illustrated with erotic scenes on their inside cover.

The design of this pen is the same as our previous one, except for the color, which we wanted to be different in order to produce a collection of pens based on the one theme of love.

Once again we bring innovation and creativity to the pen market. "Shunga", literally meaning "images of springtime", are polychromatic xylographies of erotic subjects produced by the best teachers of the Ukiyo-e school from the beginning of the XVII to the beginning of the XX century. The Shunga panels serve a multi-purpose function: as illustration for love stories, as illustrations in the instruction of young brides, and as lucky charms carried by warriors during war.
