Sylvester Stallone is a maverick and an outsider, a member of Hollywood royalty, an art collector and successful painter, motorcycle enthusiast, wristwatch and pen aficionado. Working with Montegrappa’s artisans, Stallone created the “Chaos” Pen, the first from the “Cult” collection.

As Mr. Stallone explained, “My idea of Chaos is a sense of the Renaissance, when things were more simplified and perhaps more noble, placed against our current technological society.” Drawing on classical art to help express this idea, Mr. Stallone and Montegrappa’s designers turned to the work of 16th century artists including Battista Franco, Albrecht Dürer, Hans Sebald Beham, and Antonio Pollaiolo. In deep, sculpted relief, they forged the images of Chaos and of Death, entwined inexorably and eternally.

The Chaos pen features a body fashioned from black pearlised celluloid, with overlays in sterling silver. The overlays are hand-finished by Montegrappa’s skilled craftsmen and feature an “antiqued” finish, with accents in translucent enamel - the predominant black and silver contrasting with reds and yellows, the colors of fire. And although it is not as mighty as the pen itself, the ultimate defining detail, bearing both a fist and a skull, is the pen’s pocket clip … in the form of a sword.

The Montegrappa Chaos pen is part of a collection offered as a limited edition of 1000 fountain pens and 912 roller balls in sterling silver, the number 1912 representing Montegrappa’s date of establishment. 100 fountain pens and 100 roller balls in solid 18K gold, and a further 10 fountain pens and 10 roller balls in solid 18K gold highlighted with precious stones will be available for enthusiasts of both the screen legend and Montegrappa.
